Family celebration in Columbiana marks Evanses' 60th anniversary



CANFIELD -- Mr. and Mrs. George Evans, 6-A Hunters Woods Blvd., were honored on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary during a family gathering held Sept. 29 at Heck's Restaurant, Columbiana.
Arrangements for the event were made by their children, Noel Jenkins, Margie Evans and Dick Evans. Also participating were four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The former Ruth Feller and Mr. Evans were married Sept. 27, 1942, in Jacksonville, Fla. They are members of Woodworth Church of the Brethren.
Mr. Evans served as a fighter pilot with the Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War, and brought Muntz Television to the Youngstown area. He and his wife opened Evans Carpet in Boardman in 1956, and in 1974 they opened T.W. Pet Center, now owned by their son.
