Birth-related classes
Monday: Sibling Preparation Class, first Monday of every month, 6:15 to 7:30 p.m., Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren. For any child 2 years of age or older. To register, call (330) 841-9913. There is no fee.

Wednesday: Trumbull County Prepared Childbirth Four-Week Evening Class: 6:30-9:30 p.m., on Wednesdays this week and Oct. 16, 23 and 30, TMH. To register, call (330) 841-9251. The fee is $50.
Thursday: Grandparents Class, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., TMH, brings grandparents up-to-date on the latest trends in childbirth and child-rearing. For more information and to register, call (330) 841-9880.
Saturday: One-Day Saturday Childbirth Class, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Northside Medical Center, Youngstown. The $50 fee includes lunch for the patient and her coach. Registration is required. Call (330) 884-4763.

Heart failure patients
Tuesday: Living with Heart Failure Outpatient Class, TMH, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. A series of four one-hour sessions offered Tuesday and Oct. 15, 22 and 29 to patients diagnosed with heart failure. Topics include: Understanding heart failure, dietary guidelines, managing medications, activity tolerance and exercise. Preregistration is required, and there is no fee. Junior volunteers

Diabetes program
YOUNGSTOWN -- The STARS Diabetes project, Walk With the STARS, will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday on top of the Oakhill Renaissance Place, 345 Oak Hill Ave., parking deck. Flu, pneumonia shots
GREENFORD -- Mahoning County Board of Health personnel will administer flu and pneumonia shots from noon to 3:30 Oct. 28 at the Green Township Community Building. Medicare and Medicaid will be accepted. The cost for others is $10 for flu shots and $20 for pneumonia shots. Call (330) 533-5352.

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Community Health Center, 726 Wick Ave., is offering flu shots from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 23 and 30. Preference is given to those over 65, children and people with chronic illnesses. Medicare and Medicaid are accepted. The cost for others is $10.
Alternative medicine
LIBERTY -- Dr. Larry Dossey, author of "Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine," is keynote speaker for two seminars at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex. He will present "Healing Words: The Power of Prayer and the Practice of Medicine," from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday; and "Healing Beyond the Body: The Infinite Reach of the Mind," from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Friday. Barbara Dossey, holistic nurse, will present "The Inner Retreat: Maximal Well Being Through Self-Care" from 1:30 to 4:45 p.m. Friday. Oct. 14: "The Future of Long-Term Care: Meeting the Needs of our Geriatric Population," 7 p.m., Humility House, 755 Ohltown Road. Dr. Benjamin M. Hayek, board-certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine and medical director of long-term care for HMHP, is the speaker.
Wednesday: "Minimally Invasive Techniques for Shoulder and Knee Surgery," 7 p.m., St. Elizabeth Health Center. Dr. Thomas A. Joseph, medical director of sports medicine for HMHP, is the speaker.
