TCL ROUNDUP Lisbon posts sixth straight win, 34-15



The Blue Devils rolled past Southern and await the showdown with East Palestine.
LISBON -- The Lisbon High football team upended Southern 34-15 Friday to set the stage for next week's Tri-County League battle with East Palestine.
The Blue Devils (6-1, 4-0) lost their season opener, but have won six straight to share first place with the Bulldogs.
Lisbon is the number five team in Division V, Region 17 of the computer playoff ratings.
Southern (3-4, 1-3) got on the scoreboard first in the second quarter when David Van Dyne caught a 4-yard pass from Randy Pitts. Van Dyne made a placement for the extra point and a 7-0 lead.
Right back came Lisbon as Frank Gallo, who rushed for 79 yards on 12 carries, tallied on a 34-yard run. Jacob Wycoff's placement tied it a 7 all.
Moments later, the Blue Devils took the lead for keeps when Ralph wills caught a 9-yard TD strike from quarterback Jay Yorty. Gallo would score in the fourth period on a 2-yard run.
Van Dyne also tallied in the fourth quarter for the Indians on a 6-yard run.
Nate Jones of Southern rushed for 107 yards on 23 carries.
United 49, Sebring 0
SEBRING -- Nick Johnson of United (5-2, 2-2) rushed for 119 yards on 19 carries, which included TD runs of 5, 2, 9 and 3 yards. He also ran over a two-point conversion.
Mitch Phillis hit on 8 of 12 passes for 142 yards and he made seven place kicks for extra points. The Golden Eagles finished with 507 total yards of offense.
The Trojans (0-7, 0-4) were held to 12 yards of offense.
Columbiana 38, Crestview 0
COLUMBIANA -- Clippers quarterback Adam Fast scored two touchdowns and rushed for 86 yards on nine carries.
Fast scored on runs of 16 and 53 yards as Columbiana (5-2, 2-2) opened up a 28-0 lead at halftime.
Chris Harmon recovered a fumble in the end zone for another score. Also recording touchdowns were John Tollas (2 yards) and Ty Guy (44 yards. Eric Birnesser booted five extra points and a 45-yard field goal.
The Rebels (0-7, 0-4) were limited to 21 yards on 30 carries.
