YOUNGSTOWN -- Juliann Cortese, daughter of Joseph and Claire Cortese of Youngstown, and John Campana, son of Gene and Catherine Campana, also of Youngstown, were married at 2 p.m. Aug. 31 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Monsignor Michael Cariglio and the Rev. William Petrunak officiated, and guests greeted the couple at a reception at the Mahoning Country Club in Girard.
The newlyweds honeymooned on a cruise of the southern Caribbean and are living in Columbus.
An ivory strapless gown trimmed with baroque beading was worn by the bride. The skirt fell to a cathedral train, it featured a matching bolero jacket worn at the reception.
The bride's aunt, Noreen Sozio, and her cousin, Christina Sozio, were honor attendants, and bridesmaids were Annette Vecchiarelli and the groom's sister-in-law, Suzanne Campana. They wore black gowns.
The groom's brothers, Thomas and James Campana, shared the duties of best man, and serving as groomsmen were Robert Kozar and Kevin McCann.
The bride, who will retain her maiden name, received her undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University and a master's degree from Kent State University. She is pursuing her doctorate at Ohio State University in Columbus, where she is a graduate assistant.
Mr. Campana holds a bachelor's degree from YSU and a master's from the University of Akron. He is a customer-support specialist with Sterling Commerce in Dublin.
