Anti-violence honors
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Mayor's Task Force on Crime and Violence Prevention recognized Patricia Vargas on Friday for her efforts concerning domestic violence. Vargas was shot in the head in 1996 by her husband, who now is in prison, and recovered. She told the task force that people such as employers need to look out for women who are dealing with domestic violence. She said a number of area agencies can help victims and urged battered women to seek help.
