YOUNGSTOWN Spending items
The city's board of control approved these spending items and contracts Thursday:
Paying Glen Bowers, former Boardman police chief, an additional $2,493 for consulting services beyond the $3,000 authorized by the board earlier this year. The consulting concerned computers in the police department. Consulting work increased when the police department was awarded a state grant for laptop computers in cruisers.
Paying an additional $145,112 to MS Consultants for engineering services on the Federal Street reconstruction project for work not included in the original agreement. The new contract now is $352,175. A federal grant is paying for the additional work.
Buying two speed radar units for the police department from MPH Industries, Owensboro, Ky., for $1,545 each.
Buying two used vehicles from the state surplus list not to exceed $14,000.
