MERCER COUNTY Judge issues sentence in assault



The man is supposed to report daily to a treatment center in Farrell.
MERCER -- Eugene Cheza, 52, of Elm Avenue, Sharon, was sentenced Wednesday in Common Pleas Court to two years of day reporting for aggravated assault by vehicle, a felony.
Cheza was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs Sept. 28, 2001, when he crossed the center line on Highland Road in Sharon and struck a vehicle operated by Deborah Hartzell.
She suffered a concussion, broken wrist, head contusion and bruised knees, according to court documents.
Judge Michael Wherry ordered him to report daily to a Farrell treatment center for two years. He will be on house arrest every night. After the two years, he will be on four years' probation. He was also ordered to pay restitution.
Also sentenced
Others were sentenced Wednesday:
UMarcia Gregory, 34, of Fruit Avenue, Farrell, was placed on two years' probation for misdemeanor assault. On May 25, according to court documents, while arguing with Francine Moore, she threw Moore to the floor and bit her left index finger, amputating the tip. She also hit her in the head with a glass ashtray, causing bruising and swelling. She was given 25 days' credit for time served.
UJarrell Holloway, 25, of Beechwood Avenue, Farrell, was placed on 10 years' probation for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a felony. On Jan. 29, he was found in possession of more than 30 grams of marijuana, packaged individually in various sizes, according to court documents. He was given 238 days' credit for time served.
Also Wednesday, Judge Thomas Dobson sentenced Trenton Brown, 25, of Shenango Street, Greenville, to six to 24 months in jail for felony criminal trespassing.
On Sept. 28, 2000, according to court documents, Brown took a rifle and shotgun with a total value of $289, from a Rutledge Road, Pymatuning Township address.
