PREP VOLLEYBALL Chaney records sixth victory against Campbell Memorial
Fitch and Warren Harding each scored Steel Valley Conference wins.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jill Kocanyar had four digs and five aces, Courtney Williams had five kills, Monica Peace scored nine points and Angela Armstrong made 10 assists to lead the Chaney High volleyball team to a 15-10, 15-10 victory over Campbell Memorial Tuesday.
Megan Cunning made five kills, Kristin Grachanin made six digs, Candace Hrelec scored six points with five aces and Ralene Harris had eight assists for Campbell (3-11).
Chaney is 6-11.
Fitch 15-15, Mooney 2-1
AUSTINTOWN -- Amanda Williamson sparked the Falcons with nine points, five kills, four aces and six digs. Katie McDermott had seven points, seven kills, four aces and five digs. Maggie Case had four points, three kills, two aces and four digs.
Warren Harding 12-17-15, Ursuline 15-15-10
WARREN -- Brittney Warren had 14 points, Sharina Freeman had 10 kills and four aces, while Jenna Simon had 26 assists for Harding (4-12, 1-4 Steel Valley Conference).
Jessica Larosa scored 11 points and Lauren Reinhards had eight kills for the Irish (5-10, 2-4).
Boardman 15-15, Massillon Perry 9-6
BOARDMAN -- Jen Hlebovy had 11 points, eight kills and five digs to lead the Spartans (15-2) past Perry (7-8).
Claire Selius added seven points, three kills and three digs. Lauren Craig had nine kills and five blocks and Jaclyn Corroto had seven points and 12 assists.
Poland 15-10-15, Struthers 4-15-13
POLAND -- Steffi Graf scored 11 points, with nine kills and seven digs as Poland turned back Struthers in a Metro Athletic Conference match.
Amber Kocher had 11 points, five digs and three kills for the Bulldogs (12-5, 6-2). Kristen Stanyard had 12 assists and seven digs.
Jacquie Travis led Struthers (7-10, 0-9) with 10 kills and five blocks. Nicole Robenolt had four digs.
Canfield 15-15, Niles 12-6
CANFIELD -- Jill Vertanen scored 11 points, with five aces, five kills and five blocks for the Cardinals (10-9, 6-2 MAC). Megan Humeniuk had seven points, four aces, six digs and three kills. Amanda Williams had four points, one ace and four digs.
Jackson-Milton 15-15, Canfield 9-4
CANFIELD -- Corey Velk led the Bluejays with 13 points including five aces Monday. Ashley Loutzenhiser and Shauna Durg each made seven kills with Loutzenhiser making three blocks. Erika Stamm had 17 assists and Shannon McGee made six digs for Jackson-Milton (8-6).
Salem 15-15, Howland 2-3
SALEM -- Lauren Teal led the Quakers (15-4, 8-0 MAC) with four kills and two kills. Taylor Hendricks had five kills and Tiffanie Heestand had four kills and a tip.
West Branch 11-17-15, Canton South 15-15-12
BELOIT -- Amanda Benner came up with 10 points, 10 kills, a block and 11 passes, while Samantha Benner was in with four kills, a block and two passes for the Warriors (16-2, 10-1 Northeastern Buckeye Conference).
Amy Beth Edie also had nine points, five kills, four blocks and 24 passes.
