YOUNGSTOWN -- Dalvon Dumas, 22, of Midlothian Boulevard remained in critical condition today at St. Elizabeth Health Center with gunshot wounds to her neck and chest. Dumas, who was shot Sunday as she drove on the South Side, believes the shots were intended for her passenger, reports show. Johnny Love and two of his passengers, Brandon Jones and Joey Mitchell, were arrested Sunday. No charges were filed Monday against Jones, 19, of Ellenwood and Ohio avenues, or Mitchell, 24, who has addresses in Columbus and Conneaut. Traffic charges were filed Monday against Love, 28, of Hudson Avenue, and a charge related to the shooting was expected to be filed today, police said.
Robbery and assault
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 67-year-old man passing out fliers on West Warren Avenue was knocked to the ground in his neighborhood about 9:30 p.m. Sunday and robbed of $10.55, reports show. The victim reported the theft to police Monday. He said he was jumped by five men and blacked out.
Two suspicious fires
YOUNGSTOWN -- For the second time, a suspicious fire burned at a vacant apartment building at 3303 Hillman St., the fire department said. Damage from the blaze that started at 9:15 p.m. Monday is estimated at $20,000. Damage from a fire at the same location Sunday night caused$25,000 worth of damage. David Sewell of Warren owns the two-story wooden building. County records show the building's market value as $28,400.
School bus keys stolen
AUSTINTOWN -- Keys were stolen during the weekend from 12 school buses parked at Austintown Middle School. Police are investigating.
Drug-abuse arrest
AUSTINTOWN -- A Cumberland Drive man wanted on a warrant for felony drug abuse of cocaine was arrested after a brief chase with police Monday evening. Reports state that Gary Greenwalt, 44, ran into his back yard when police approached his house about 9:15 p.m. Police found him in one of the back yards south of his home. The warrant was issued by the Mahoning County Sheriff's Department. Reports do not say what led to the drug-abuse charge.
Man reports beating
AUSTINTOWN -- Police are investigating a report that an 18-year-old North Kimberly Avenue man was beaten by his teen-age neighbors at his apartment early Sunday. The man told police the three teens were drinking heavily before they came to his apartment about 1 a.m. He said the teens covered him with a blanket, held him down, and punched him in the head.
Two of the teens are 17, and the third is 18. The man said he eventually left his apartment and got a ride to the police station. He was taken from the station to St. Elizabeth Health Center by ambulance, where he was treated.
Stream monitoring
POLAND -- Local citizens, families and community groups are invited to register for a workshop on volunteer stream monitoring scheduled for Saturday on the Poland Village Green adjacent to village hall. Volunteer water-watcher teams from local businesses and organizations donate about two hours every three months to monitor the health of local streams by counting animals living in a section of a stream. Cited in cruiser crash
POLAND -- A 52-year-old woman whose car rear-ended a township patrol cruiser has been cited. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Concetta Micco of Bessemer, Pa., was ticketed for failure to maintain assured clear distance in the crash, at 8:05 a.m. Monday on Western Reserve Road near state Route 170. Neither Micco nor patrol officer Julie Henderson, 31, was injured. Henderson said she was making a right turn into a driveway when the crash occurred. She said she used her turn signal and overhead lights. The cruiser suffered damage to the rear bumper, right and left rear quarter panel, the trunk and the rear undercarriage. Micco's car suffered front-end damage.
