KENT STATE Series will bring poets to campus
After the poetry readings, there will be book signings by the writers.
KENT -- A reading by Cornelius Eady at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Room 306 of the Kent State University Student Center will kick off the Wick Poetry Series, which will bring several noted poets to the KSU campus.
Sponsored by the English department, the program is endowed in memory of Tom and Stan Wick. Book signings and receptions for the writers will take place immediately after each reading.
Eady is associate professor of English and director of the Poetry Center at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
At 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24, a second program will be presented in Room 310 at the center by Velma Pollard, distinguished author, who specializes in Caribbean literature.
Scholarship winners
"Celebrating Our Own: Wick Poetry Scholarship winners" will be featured in the 7:30 p.m. Nov. 6 program in Room 112-A at Satterfield Hall. Among the winners giving readings will be by Mary Roulette, Caren Pagel, Jillian Glass, Lora Eves, Lindsay Wargo and Natalie Pillsbury.
Philip Brady, who teaches at Youngstown State University, will present his program at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3 in Room 310 at the student center.
At 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11, there will be a presentation by Lynn Emanuel, professor of English at the University of Pittsburgh, and Kate Northrop, assistant professor of English at West Chester University. The program will be in Room 307 at the student center.
