Volunteers make sure kids who need a friend get one
Volunteers at the Liberty SCOPE Center for senior citizens on Tibbetts-Wick Road keep busy making Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for police and firefighters to give to kids who need something to cuddle for comfort after a traumatic experience. Among the dollmakers during a recent day are, from left, John Morfchak of Weathersfield; Gary Long of Warren; Beverly Reed, SCOPE crafts director; Julie Brauer and Ray Novotny (standing), SCOPE co-managers; and Lee Harver and Rama Guttikonda, both of Liberty. The workers include a little lightheartedness in their work, poking fun at Barbie dolls.
