MEN'S TOP 25 Friday's game
No. 7 Florida 83, No. 2 Kansas 73
NEW YORK-- Anthony Roberson halted an early Kansas comeback in the second half Friday, then Matt Walsh and Matt Bonner shut off a late one, helping Florida secure a consolation game win in the Preseason NIT. The defeat completed a washout visit to Madison Square Garden for the No. 2 Jayhawks, who lost consecutive games for the first time since Feb. 12-17, 2001. Roberson, who shot just 1-for-13 in Florida's loss to Stanford in the semifinals, took charge early in the second half after consecutive 3-pointers by Kirk Hinrich and Aaron Miles narrowed Kansas' halftime deficit from 12 points to a more manageable six. Roberson nailed three 3-pointers and Justin Hamilton and Bonner also connected from beyond the arc in a 17-4 burst that put the Gators (4-1) back in control. Walsh and Bonner had 22 points each, Hamilton scored 14 and Roberson finished with nine. Keith Langford led Kansas with 17, while Nick Collison and Wayne Simien scored 16 each.
