CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands -- Alana Beard scored 15 points as No. 1 Duke held Hampton to 23 percent shooting to win in the first game of the Paradise Jam. Duke (3-0) followed last weekend's win over No. 2 Tennessee with another strong performance in the round-robin tournament. The Blue Devils play Old Dominion on Friday, then Arkansas on Saturday. The Lady Pirates (1-1) missed their first nine field-goal attempts and didn't make a basket until there was 8:42 left in the half. Beard became Duke's career leader in steals with 233.
No. 6 Purdue 103, Savannah St. 25
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Shereka Wright scored 19 points and Purdue routed Savannah State for the largest victory margin in school history. Wright became the fourth-fastest Purdue player to reach 1,000 career points when she scored on a baseline drive with 11:58 left. Savannah State (0-3), a first-year Division I team, was overmatched from the start. Purdue (3-0) built a 19-2 lead, forced 16 turnovers in the game's first 14 minutes and ended the opening half with a 49-14 lead.
No. 17 Arkansas 54, Old Dominion 49
CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands -- India Lewis scored 21 points to lead Arkansas past Old Dominion at the Paradise Jam. Shareese Grant scored to pull Old Dominion to 50-49 with 17 seconds remaining, but Lewis hit four straight free throws to seal it for the Lady Razorbacks (3-0). Grant scored 13 points to lead the Lady Monarchs (0-2).

No. 9 Michigan St. 80, Montana 60
ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Adam Ballinger scored nine straight points at the start of the second half as No. 9 Michigan State beat Montana in the first round of the Great Alaska Shootout. Ballinger missed his only field-goal attempt in the first half as the Spartans built a 37-29 lead. He hit a pair of 3-pointers, a field goal and a free throw in a little more than two minutes to open the second half, pushing the lead to 46-29. Ballinger finished with 11 points. Chris Hill led the Spartans with 23 points. Freshman Kevin Criswell scored 16 points and Steve Horne had 14 for Montana (1-2).
