Jobless rates increasein Lawrence, Mercer
SHARON, Pa. -- The unemployment rate in Mercer and Lawrence counties inched up in October. The Mercer rate reached 3.8 percent. The rate was 3.7 percent in September, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.
In Lawrence County the unemployment rate rose to 5.5 percent from a September rate of 5.3 percent, state officials said.
Chamber series targetsbusiness development
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City Area Chamber of Commerce will offer the first installment of its business development series "If You Market, They Will Come." Scott Powell, assistant professor of business at Grove City College, will present "Marketing? Who Needs It?" at 7 p.m. Thursday at Burdick's, 151 S. Broad St. The series is free to Grove City business owners.
