Poland Kiwanis mark 50th anniversary



BOARDMAN -- Members of the Kiwanis Club of Poland met Nov. 12 at the Holiday Inn to celebrate the chapter's 50th year of service to the Poland community.
Highlighting the evening was a presentation made to Howard L. Moyer, a charter member, for his 50 years of perfect attendance. Moyer has served the chapter as president, secretary and director, as well as his current position as treasurer.
Stan Massarelli gave a historical narrative of the club's history of service projects and fund-raising activities. The organization has awarded annual scholarships to high school seniors since 1958 and supports the Poland Food Pantry, Pony League Baseball team, Poland High School speech tournament, Poland All Sports Boosters and Leonard Kirtz School. Its motto is "We Build."
Wayne Millineaux, president, introduced special guest Chuck Whitman, Division 21 lieutenant governor, along with members of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, which sponsored the Poland club in 1952, and members of the Steubenville Kiwanis.
