MERCER COUNTY | Sentenced in court



Seven people were sentenced this week in Mercer County Common Pleas Court:
Joseph Cresswell, 18, of Coal Hill Road, Greenville, was sentenced to six to 30 months in jail for receiving stolen property, a felony, for entering a garage on Columbia Avenue, Greenville last August and taking two cars. He was also ordered to make restitution. Cresswell was also sentenced to six to 18 months for receiving stolen property for stealing a car from a Church Street residence in Sugar Grove Township last August.
Terry Pompay, 20, of Hamilton Avenue, Farrell, was sentenced to one to five years for felony burglary for taking a game and jewelry valued at $790 from a South Oakland Avenue home in Sharon in April.
Brian Ashman, 35, of the Mercer County Jail, was placed on three years' probation and ordered to make restitution for attempted theft by deception for forging checks totaling $713 March 18 to several businesses in Hermitage.
Brian Buchanan, 34, of Elm Avenue, Sharon, was sentenced to six months to one year for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, for punching his wife, Lisa, in the face. He had been released from jail June 9 after his wife called police on him the previous night. He was also sentenced to three months to one year for a misdemeanor count of possessing drug paraphernalia for having a pipe commonly used for smoking crack cocaine. The sentences were ordered to be served consecutively.
William Carthorn, 30, of Roemer Boulevard, Farrell, was sentenced to three months to two years for unlawful restraint, a misdemeanor, for repeatedly preventing a woman from leaving his residence by blocking the doorway of his residence Jan. 15.
Rotter Green, 44, of Fifth Street, Sharon, was sentenced to 12 days to two years for misdemeanor simple assault for grabbing a woman, threatening to kill her and grabbing her by the throat and hitting her head against the hood of a vehicle in April along Fifth Avenue, Sharon.
Eric Hopson, 25, of Beechwood Avenue, Farrell, was sentenced to concurrent three-month to one-year terms for resisting arrest and possession of marijuana, both misdemeanors.
