Outlook: Lost five seniors, including Jenny Place (now at Bethany), to graduation and have a very young team. Probably a year or two away from contending.

Outlook: Return five letterwinners but are still very young. Will rely on quickness.
CHAMPION

Newcomers: Heather Pegg (5-10, Soph.), Stefaric Hofmeister (6-0, Soph.), Nicole Okerlund (5-6, Soph.), Mallory Flamini (5-4, Jr.).
Outlook: Return seven letterwinners and have good size and are experienced. Must replace guard Brianne Kochunas, but could be a surprise team.
GIRARD
Head coach: Andrew Saxon, 17th year (194-142)
2001 record: 19-1, 15-1
Returning letterwinners: Jen Maravola (5-3, Sr., G), Tealle Hunkus (6-1, Sr., C), Bree Longberry (5-8, Sr., G), Jessica Schnarrs (5-8, Sr., C), Jenny Sopkovich (5-2, Sr., G), Justine Christopher (5-7, Jr., F), Angela Ragazzine (5-5, Jr., G), Kristen Ragozine (5-9, Jr., F), Erin Walters (5-4, Jr., G), Lora Doran (5-8, Soph., F), Cachet Murray (5-6, Soph., G).
Outlook: After winning league title last season, Girard returns four starters and 12 letterwinners. Stephanie Scarnecchia was lost to injury. Favored to win league title and could make a run at state tournament.
HUBBARD
Head coach: David Konczal, sixth year (70-38)
2001 record: 17-3, 14-2
Returning letterwinners: Katy Jo Mroski (6-2, Sr., C), Jami Duvall (5-7, Sr., G), Lynle Cornell (5-8, Jr., G), Anna DeJulio (5-6, Sr., G), Jill Phillips (6-2, Sr., C).
Newcomers: Amie Coonce (5-6, Sr., G), Amanda Taylor (5-6, Soph., F), Loni Sargent (5-9, Jr., C), Danielle DeJulio (5-7, Soph., G), Kristina Adams (5-6, Soph., 3).
Outlook: Very athletic with good size. Return all five starters from last season and will compete with Girard for league title. Have a difficult non-league schedule and bench has little varsity experience.
LABRAE
Head coach: John Wolford, first year
2001 record: 0-20, 0-16
Returning letterwinners: Cassondra Wilson (5-10, Jr., C), Kristen Shackelford (5-7, Soph., F).
Newcomers: Kendra Needles (5-8, Sr., C), Anita Simmons (5-6, Soph., F), Jill Mullenax (5-6, Soph., F), Lindsay Blaszek (5-4, Soph., G), Stephanie Davis (5-6, Soph., C), Kim Calderwood (5-6, Fr., F).
Outlook: Lost four starters. Will just look to be competitive.
LAKEVIEW
Head coach: Natal Rosko, first year
2001 record: 7-13, 5-11
Returning letterwinners: Megan McBride (6-1, Sr., C), Erika Sentner (5-8, Sr., F), Elise Franco (5-4, Sr., G), Natalie Sudzina (5-4, Jr., G).
Newcomers: Heather Wasylink (5-6, Jr., F), Britni Morello (5-4, Soph., G), Lindsay Whetzel (5-9, Fr., C), Megan Ameen (5-5, Fr., G), Christina Martin (5-11, Soph., C).
Outlook: With injuries to McBride and Sentner, the Bulldogs may struggle early, but will try to finish in the middle of the pack in the league race. Must replace Amy Harrison, now at Urbana College.
LIBERTY
Head coach: John Hritz, fourth year
2001 record: 7-13, 6-10
Returning letterwinners: Jessica White (5-6, Sr., G), Brittny Humphrey (5-7, Jr., F)
Newcomers: Lena Esmail (5-10, Jr., F), Cheri Austin (5-8, Jr., F), Ashley Logan (5-4, Jr., G), Chenell Mills (5-7, Soph., G).
Outlook: Return two starters and have good speed and quickness. White is one of the area's best players. Will struggle against taller teams.
NEWTON FALLS
Head coach: Kelly Nelson, fifth year (36-32)
2001 record: 16-4, 12-4
Returning letterwinners: Desiree Sterling (5-7, Sr., G), Lora Mason (5-5, Sr., G), Megan McElravy (5-6, Sr., G), Kassi Collins (5-10, Sr., F).
Newcomers: Molly Lenarcic (5-7, Soph., G), Cortney Pelyak (5-5, Jr., G), Amanda Zeleny (5-5, Sr., G/F), Sarah Prokop (5-9, Sr., F), Kim Drake (5-6, Jr., G), Jackie Clonch (5-8, F).
Outlook: Return two starters and have good quickness. Will try to stay in top half of league and return to district tournament. Sterling is one of the area's best players.
