Village council will consider annexation

LISBON -- Village council will discuss the annexation of six acres on Saltwell Road from Center Township into the village.
Kevin Owens wants to annex his land to the village to get sewer and water service so he can develop the property, said Mayor Jeff Snyder, who gave no other details about Owens' plans.
According to records in the Columbiana County auditor's office, Owens purchased the property at 38764 Saltwell Road for $199,000 in May from Rickey and Cindy Cook.
The annexation, which has not been filed with county commissioners, was to have been on the agenda at a recent meeting, but discussion was postponed until December's meeting because members had questions, Snyder said. He did not elaborate.
In other matters, council voted to discontinue parking meter services with Ampco Parking of Cleveland effective Jan. 1.
Ampco has been providing meter reading and repair services since September 1996.
Council decided it would be less expensive to police and repair the meters in-house. A part-time meter reader will be hired.
Council also approved putting a vinyl floor in the council meeting room in village hall. It will cost $1,344 and be done by Eells-Leggett of Lisbon.
A new amplifier, modular mixer and compact disc changer for the village's sound system were approved.
