Youngstown school board
The Youngstown School Board Tuesday also took the following action:
Approved various improvements at Choffin Career and Technical Center as part of the school construction project. The Choffin renovation budget is about $10.3 million.
Heard plans for the building of Paul C. Bunn Elementary School. Construction will begin in October 2003 and be completed in four sequences by December 2004, said Steven L. Ludwinski, senior project manager for Heery International Inc., the project's lead construction manager. The building will get 13 new classrooms, a new gymnasium, a new media center and renovations throughout.
Approved the hiring of a parent resource liaison for a visitor welcome center at Volney Rogers Junior High School at a rate of $6 per hour. Schools Superintendent Ben McGee said it is one of three such positions in the pilot program. Others are at Paul C. Bunn Elementary School and Rayen High School. He said they will join student and community volunteers in school hallways near entrance areas to give visitors information and answer questions.
