YOUNGSTOWN -- United Community Financial Corp. declared a fourth-quarter dividend of 7.5 cents a share, payable Dec. 13 to shareholders of record Nov. 30. It is the holding company for Home Savings and Loan Co. and Butler Wick Corp.

Statistics show jumpin bankruptcy filings
WASHINGTON -- Bankruptcy filings by individuals and businesses jumped 12 percent in the three months ending in September to a record 401,306, according to data released Monday.
New bankruptcy filings in the 12 months ended Sept. 30 totaled 1,547,669, up 7.7 percent from the year-earlier period and exceeding the record high of 1,492,129 in 2001, data compiled by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts show.
