MEN'S TOP 25 Alabama routs Middle Tennessee



No. 6 Duke beat Davidson for the 16th straight time.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Erwin Dudley had 17 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots as No. 4 Alabama beat Middle Tennessee State 80-65 Monday night.
The Crimson Tide (3-0) led by 22 points with 4:20 remaining before emptying the bench. Mo Williams had 14 points and five assists, while Kenny Walker also scored 14 points.
Emmett Thomas shot 4-of-6 on 3-pointers for 12 points off the bench as Crimson Tide reserves accounted for 27 points.
No. 6 Duke 95, Davidson 80
DURHAM, N.C. -- Chris Duhon matched his career high with 20 points and added 10 assists as Duke needed a strong finish to beat Davidson for the 16th straight time.
Duke (2-0) struggled to put away the defending Southern Conference champions, turning the ball over 21 times and shooting 40 percent in the second half. Wayne Bernard had 21 of his career-high 28 points in the opening half and Ian Johnson added 23 in his collegiate debut as Davidson put up a fight until Duhon took over down the stretch.
No. 10 Oregon 86,Cal State Northridge 77
EUGENE, Ore. -- Luke Jackson scored 23 points and Luke Ridnour added 19 as Oregon won the championship of the John Thompson Foundation Challenge.
Chris Davis' layup with 3:17 remaining tied it at 73 for the Matadors (1-2). But the Ducks (2-0) answered with a 5-0 run to go up 78-73, capped by Ridnour's driving layup and foul shot.
Cal State Northridge came as close as 78-76 on Justice Graham's 3-pointer with 1:46 to go before the Ducks pulled away.
Ridnour also had nine assists, and Robert Johnson had 10 points and 12 rebounds for Oregon.
No. 12 Connecticut 67,George Washington 55
HARTFORD, Conn. -- Tony Robertson scored 21 points and center Emeka Okafor had 12 rebounds and eight blocks for Connecticut.
UConn (2-0) never trailed but needed Robertson's four 3-pointers in the first half to stay ahead. UConn shot just 36 percent in the half and committed 10 turnovers, but the Huskies controlled the boards, scoring 11 points off offensive rebounds.
Ben Gordon had 17 points for Connecticut. Okafor finished with 13 points and a team-high four steals.
No. 15 Kentucky 82, Arizona St. 65
LAHAINA, Hawaii -- Keith Bogans scored 20 points and Kentucky opened its 100th season in the first round of the Maui Invitational.
Bogans finished 7-for-10 from the field, including 3-for-4 from 3-point range, and had a team-leading seven rebounds and four assists.
Jamal Hill had 16 points to lead Arizona State (1-1).
No. 19 Indiana 84,Massachusetts 71
LAHAINA, Hawaii -- Tom Coverdale scored 20 points and George Leach added career highs of 19 points and 16 rebounds for Indiana in the opening round of the Maui Invitational.
Raheim Lamb had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Minutemen (0-1), while Marcus Cox, a transfer from Connecticut, had 14 points.
No. 20 Gonzaga 71, Utah 52
LAHAINA, Hawaii -- Ronny Turiaf scored a career-high 24 points in 24 minutes and Gonzaga scored 19 straight points in the first half to take control against Utah in the opening round of the Maui Invitational.
Turiaf made 15 free throws, one off the school record. He finished 15-for-16 from the line. Gonzaga (2-0) was 33-for-43 from the free-throw line.
Britton Johnsen led Utah (1-1), 5-for-18 from the line, with 15 points.
No. 23 Mississippi State 81, McNeese State 65
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Timmy Bowers scored 19 points and Winsome Frazier had 14 as Mississippi State bounced back from a season-opening loss to Louisiana-Lafayette.
The Bulldogs (1-1) played their second game without Mario Austin. The team's leading scorer and rebounder last season is being held out pending an NCAA ruling on his eligibility.
Michael Ignerski had 12 points in the second half for Mississippi State. Derrick Zimmerman scored 12 points on 5-for-5 shooting and handed out eight assists.
