First Night volunteers
YOUNGSTOWN -- First Night Youngstown, the family-oriented and alcohol-free arts event downtown, is seeking volunteers to help on New Year's Eve. Volunteers are needed for 2.5-hour shifts to sell admission buttons, check buttons, usher, help at performance sites and set up and tear down displays. All volunteers receive a free admission button. Students can use the event as part of their community service credit in school. Anyone interested can call First Night at (330) 742-0445.
Call for blood donors
CLEVELAND -- To ensure an adequate supply of blood for local patients, the Red Cross urges people in northern Ohio to donate blood before the end of the Thanksgiving weekend. Call the Red Cross at (800) 448-3543 for a schedule of blood drives. Information is also available at www.redcross.org/northernohio.
