Kirkpatrick leads Hiram past Hilbert



ERIE, Pa. -- The Hiram College men's basketball team defeated Hilbert (N.Y.) College 93-55 in the consolation game of the Penn State-Behrend Tip-Off tournament Sunday at the Junker Center.
Five Terriers scored in double figures, with sophomore guard Allen Kirkpatrick taking team honors with 17 points. David Mayle added 13 points, and he grabbed eight of Hiram's 54 rebounds.
Chicago 84, Thiel 68
CHICAGO -- Derek Reich scored 40 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Chicago beat Thiel in the title game of the Midway Classic tournament.
The Maroons (2-0) fell behind 12-6 early in the game but rallied to take a 40-34 lead at halftime. Scott Fisher also had a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 boards.
A.H. Davis (Boardman) scored 25 points for Thiel (1-0), which had four players to score in double figures. Eddie Matthews had 11 points while Mike Banach and D.J. Gambridge both had 10.
The Maroons outrebounded Thiel 48-42.
