WARREN -- Close results for two questions on the November ballot have triggered automatic recounts of ballots by the Trumbull County Board of Elections.
Election-night totals found that both a 1-mill fire levy in Hartford and a local option to sell beer in Bazetta's Precinct A lost by one vote. State law calls for a recount of elections decided by less than 0.5 percent of the vote.
High school dedication
McDONALD -- A dedication ceremony and open house at McDonald High School, which had been scheduled for Tuesday, has been postponed.
The building is being renovated with a $9 million grant from the Ohio School Facilities Commission and a local bond issue.
Fowler holiday event
FOWLER -- The local historical society, the fire department, Judy's Flower Shop and Fowler General Store will celebrate the coming of the holiday season from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The community Christmas tree will be lighted at 5 p.m. Saturday, and there will be caroling.
Santa will be on hand from 1:30 to 5 both days. The historical society museum will feature toys, trees, pump-organ music and a display of dolls in handmade garments.
The museum is at state Routes 305 and 193.
Gingerbread houses
NEWTON FALLS -- Children in kindergarten through sixth grade can make gingerbread houses and other holiday confections at the public library from 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 10.
During the same time Dec. 11, teens can create their own Christmas craft; then at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 16, the library will host the Holiday Family Storytime for all ages.

Christmas tree lighting
VIENNA -- The township Kiwanis Club will host the annual community Christmas tree lighting program at 6 p.m. Dec. 1 in Vienna Center.
The Mathews High School choir will lead a sing-along, and hot cider and cookies will be served.
Fingerprinting for kids
SHARON, Pa. -- Sharon American Legion Post 299 will have a free children's fingerprinting and identification-picture clinic from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 1 at the post home, 1395 E. State St.
