Struthers boy to perform on float

STRUTHERS -- A 9-year-old fourth-grader at Struthers Elementary School will be participating in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
Tyler Hanes, who auditioned by videotape, will be among 130 music-loving youngsters, age 9-17, from 10 states who have been selected to perform Johnny Mercer's classic "Accentuate the Positive,'' with Camp Broadway's parade float.
Tyler, a son of David and Cathy Hanes of Ninth Street, has performed in "The King and I" and "Oliver" at Trumbull New Theatre, "The King and I" at Salem Community Theatre, "My Fair Lady" at Carnation Theater, and "Musical Memories" with Move Over Broadway productions.
He takes performance classes at the Youngstown Playhouse and Easy Street Productions and delivers The Vindicator on two routes.
Macy's and NBC have scheduled Camp Broadway's parade performance to be televised between 10:45 and 11:15 a.m. but do not guarantee its mention or appearance.
With headquarters in New York City's Broadway theater district, Camp Broadway is a theater arts education and audience development company.
