SALEM Hospital raises funds for system

The hospital provides the free service to more than 200 people who qualify.
SALEM -- A Giving Christmas Tree, the annual fund-raising campaign for Project HELLO, Salem Community Hospital's free emergency response system, is under way.
The personal response system involves a unit connected to a subscriber's telephone that automatically dials the base unit, located in the hospital, when activated by pressing a button worn around the subscriber's neck.
It enables subscribers to seek help when they are unable to get to the telephone, and thereby can help people who may be frail, disabled, isolated or medically vulnerable continue to live independently in their homes.
Funded by community donations, the service is provided by SCH at no charge to more than 200 subscribers who qualify.
Ornament
Each donation is represented by a stained-glass ornament on the Project HELLO Christmas Tree, which will be displayed at SCH during December.
Contributions of $5-$10 will be recognized with a bell; $11-$20, with a star; $21-$30, with a gift; $31-$40, with a stocking; $41-$50, with a tree; and $51 or more with an angel or candle.
Contributions are tax-deductible and should be made to Project HELLO, in care of Salem Community Hospital, 1995 E. State St. Call (330) 337-7997 for more information.
