AREA COLLEGES Mount Union triumphs with help from Graf and Scarpitti



ALLIANCE -- Allie Graf, Nikki Scarpitti and Ashley Bourdeau scored 19, 15 and 10 points, respectively, as Mount Union College defeated Kenyon 55-47 in a women's basketball game Tuesday.
Graf, a graduate of Poland High School, made four of six from 3-point range for the Raiders (2-1).
Cori Arnold led Kenyon (2-1) with 12 points.
Bethany 68, Penn St. Behrend 57
ERIE, Pa. -- Cardinal Mooney graduate Katie Hardie collected 21 points and 16 rebounds while Nikki Babik added 10 points for Bethany (2-1).
PSB (1-2) was led by Amber Krumpe with 21 points.
Pitt Greensburg 73,Westminster 59
GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Erin Arnold led three double-figure scorers with 20 points as the Bobcats (2-1) used a strong second half to improve upon a 30-27 lead at the break.
Ashley Kenney and Jennifer Petures scored 17 and 16 points respectively to pace the Titans (2-1).
Carnegie Mellon 78, Thiel 39
PITTSBURGH -- Thiel was outscored 47-20 in the second half and fell to 0-3.
Erin Bradey and Michelle Sodini each had 14 points for Carnegie Mellon.
Men
GROVE CITY -- Sophomore Nate Maurer shot 13-for-18 from the floor for a career-best 31 points as Grove City defeated Penn State Behrend 82-58.
Andy Vlajkovich, a graduate of Canfield High School had four assists for the Wolverines (3-0).
James Curren hit for 30 points for the Lions (2-1).
Mount Union 72, Thiel 67
ALLIANCE -- Curtis Stevens poured in 18 points and he was backed up by Chris Blakely with 17 points for the Purple Raiders (1-0).
The game was tied at 29 at the half and each team had 33 rebounds.
A.H. Davis, a graduate of Boardman High School, scored 22 points for Thiel (1-2).
