COLUMBUS -- Three of six state semifinal high school football playoffs scheduled for Friday were postponed after nearly 6 inches of wet, heavy snow fell on parts of Ohio.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association announced these delays Friday afternoon:
UIn Division II, Toledo St. Francis will play Dayton Chaminade-Julienne today at Lima Senior Stadium.
UIn Division IV, Kenton will play Kettering Alter today at Piqua Alexander Stadium/Purk Field.
UIn Division VI, Columbus Grove will play Dola Hardin Northern Sunday at Findlay Donnell Stadium.
Mogadore 28, Newark Catholic 21
CANTON -- Tommy Lee scored two touchdowns as Mogadore beat Newark Catholic to advance to its third-straight Division VI championship game.
Newark Catholic led 21-14 entering the fourth quarter but gave up two fumbles in the last five minutes that led to touchdowns.
Lee tied the game at 21 on 1-yard fourth-down touchdown run with 2:49 remaining and 18 seconds later Robert Peckering returned a fumble 37-yards for a touchdown.
Troy Nichols' 2-yard touchdown run put Newark ahead 14-6 in 7 minutes left in third. But Lee answered 43-seconds later with a 6-yard touchdown run and ran in a two-point conversion to tie the game at 14 for the Wildcats (13-1).
Macedonia Nordonia 12, Olmsted Falls 10
PARMA -- Dan Macon had a 52-yard run, followed by a 5-yard touchdown to lead Macedonia Nordonia to a win over Olmsted Falls in a Division II state semifinal.
The second quarter touchdown gave Nordonia (13-1) a 12-0 halftime lead. Tom Stockle scored the Knights' first touchdown on a 1-yard run late in the first quarter.
Olmsted Falls (11-3), which was the Division II state champion in 2000, scored on Tim Curran's 48-yard run with 9:59 remaining in the third quarter.
PennsylvaniaRochester 26, Duquesne 13
PITTSBURGH -- Nate Waldron rushed for two touchdowns and threw for another as Rochester beat Duquesne in the WPIAL Class A championship game at Heinz Field.
The win gives Rochester (11-2) its third consecutive WPIAL title and fourth in five years. Duquesne (11-2) was making its first appearance in the title game since 1993.
Seton LaSalle 20, Mars 6
PITTSBURGH -- Anthony Doria threw two touchdowns and ran for another to lead Seton-LaSalle to a win over Mars in the WPIAL Class AA championship game.
The win gives Seton-LaSalle (13-0) its fourth WPIAL title and first since 1990. Mars (9-4) was making its second appearance in finals and had to settle for second place again.
Hopewell 20, Pine-Richland 15
PITTSBURGH -- Matt Fontana and Paul Posluszny combined for 241 rushing yards and two touchdowns to lead Hopewell to a win over Pine-Richland in the WPIAL Class AAA championship game.
The win gives Hopewell (12-1) its first WPIAL title after second place finishes in 1990 and 2001. Pine-Richland (12-1) was making its first title appearance since winning back-to-back titles in 1969-1970.
Woodland Hills 15, North Hills 7
PITTSBURGH -- Chris Morgan ran for 157 yards and had a touchdown with 41 seconds to play as Woodland Hills beat North Hills to win the WPIAL Class AAAA championship.
The victory gives Woodland Hills (12-0) its second consecutive WPIAL title and fourth since 1996.
