YOUNGSTOWN -- A Michigan company that bought Andrews Metal Products in Youngstown said operations will continue without changes.
East Jordan Iron Works of East Jordan, Mich., bought the Andrews Avenue company this week for an undisclosed amount.
Nate Jason, public relations coordinator for the Michigan company, said Andrews products will complement its products so no changes are expected. Andrews, which was founded in 1988, employs about 40 people. Andrews referred questions to East Jordan.
Andrews is a steel fabricator, and East Jordan operates foundries that make cast-iron products.
Andrews makes manhole risers, which are used to raise manholes in paving projects, and grates, and East Jordan makes manhole covers, frames, grates and other products.
Jason said the company has been reselling steel products that it has bought from suppliers but wants to control the manufacturing of them.
East Jordan sells to municipalities, contractors and distributors. The company operates foundries in Michigan, Oklahoma and Louisiana and has 25 sales yards where it stores inventory. The company employs 1,100, including about 500 in Michigan.
