November 22, 1977: A 22-year-old Ashtabula man is being held by police after throwing his 11-month-old daughter into the Ashtabula River. Workers who witnessed the act called the Coast guard, which pulled the child from the water after about nine minutes, during which the child stayed afloat by thrashing at the water. She is in guarded condition in Ashtabula Hospital.
