STRUTHERS Police see a link in holdups



STRUTHERS -- Police are investigating a robbery here that may be linked to another in Columbiana.
According to reports, a man entered True North about 9:20 a.m., Thursday, filled a coffee cup at the self-serve machine and handed the clerk a $1 bill.
When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man, holding his right hand in his jacket pocket as though he had a weapon, demanded the cash. The clerk handed over an undetermined amount.
Police were unable to catch the robber, described as a white male between 25 and 30, 5-feet-10 to 6-feet, wearing a beige baseball cap, green sweat pants and a green and beige pullover jacket.
The clerk told police the man also wore thick, black-rimmed plastic glasses and was unshaven.
Columbiana robbery
A man fitting that description robbed a convenience store in Columbiana several hours earlier.
According to a Columbiana police report, the robber there entered Dairy Mart about 4:30 a.m., filled a cup at the self-serve coffee machine then asked the clerk for a pack of cigarettes.
When the clerk opened the register, the man demanded the cash.
The report states the robber held his hand in his pocket as though he were holding a weapon.
