Amron Four winssenior tournament
STRUTHERS -- The Amron Four squad of Ray Heaven, Joe Wilkos, John D'Alesandro and Jimmy Ellis totaled 2,659 to win the third annual Youngstown Senior Team Tournament at Holiday Bowl recently.
The Hartman's Farms team of Heaven, Wilkos, Ellis and Gary Hartman was runner-up with 2,578.
John J. Buckley Post 1292 was third with 2,551, Achkar Jewelers was fourth with 2,523 and Holiday No. 1 was fifth with 2,406.
In addition to prize money and plaques, the Amron Four members will receive tickets to the Youngstown Bowling Association hall of fame banquet in June, 2003.
Rob Vukovich claimsmasters title
STRUTHERS -- Rob Vukovich totaled 3,278 to win the 16th annual Youngstown Masters Bowling Tournament recently.
Vukovich will receive the first-place money, a plaque and paid entry into the National Masters Tournament in Reno in January.
Headed into matchplay, Vukovich was the top qualifier after 15 games.
During the matchplay at Holiday Bowl, Joe Nuzzo, Adam Barta and Sam Carissimi had perfect games. Nuzzo also had a 299 and Jim Dodge a 289. Earlier, in the first five-game block at Bell-Wick Bowl, Ron Jones had a pair of 300s.
Barta finished with 3,250 followed by Nuzzo (3184), Bruce Boyd (3162), Jones (3155), Carissimi (3127), Dodge (2983), Matt Mariano (2861), Robert Haynie (2785) and Rob Alexander (2760).
Fifty-two bowlers competed in the Masters.
Officers elected
COLUMBIANA -- The Columbiana Softball Association, Inc. recently held elections for its 2003 Board of Directors with the following results: president, Gary Dickens; vice-president, Dave Graft; secretary-Treasurer, Linda Case; equipment director, Mark Case; 13 and up director, Kevin Howard; 9-12 director, Mark Brothers, and 7-8 director, Bob Saverko.
Columbiana Softball also appointed a parent board to its association for 2003: 13 and up league, Dale Mayer; 9-12 league, Diane Graft, and 7-8 league, Michele Saverko.
Boxing judge to speak at meeting
WARREN -- Boxing judge Tom Miller will be the featured speaker at the next Trumbull County All-Athletics Sports Club meeting on Nov. 25.
The meeting, set for 5:30 p.m., will be held at the Ground Round Restaurant in Warren.

Hubbard's Newell selected by PAC
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Tammy Newell, a graduate of Hubbard High School and Westminster College senior, was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference women's soccer Player of the Year.
The Titans combined to place 12 members on the PAC men's and women's all-star squads.
Newell led the team in goals (22) and points (52).

Suspect admits to betting scam
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A computer programmer admitted in court he was the inside man for a series of betting scams on horses that culminated with a $3 million win from the Breeders' Cup last month.
He also implicated his two co-defendants, who were his fraternity brothers in college.
Chris Harn, 29, of Newark, Del., told a federal judge he used his job at Autotote, which handles most of the nation's racetrack and off-track betting, to manipulate bets during races.
NHL tabs Buffaloman to buy team
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo businessman Mark Hamister has been chosen by the NHL to purchase the financially troubled Buffalo Sabres.
Hamister owns the Arena Football League's Buffalo Destroyers, and is chairman of National Health Care. He is backed by Todd Berman, president and founder of Chartwell Investments, a private equity group.
Suit dismissed
RALEIGH, N.C. -- A federal judge declined to dismiss a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by two former female soccer players against the University of North Carolina.
The ruling ends a wait of more than three years since state attorneys sought dismissal of the suit in June 1999. Any trial is expected to be at least a year away.
Kim Gallagher, 38,dies following stroke
PHILADELPHIA -- Kim Gallagher, a middle-distance runner who overcame illness to win medals at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games, has died. She was 38.
Gallagher died of a stroke Monday at Roxborough Memorial Hospital. She was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 1995 and suffered the first of two strokes in August.
