HERMITAGE Award ceremony to follow annual Holiday Light Parade



HERMITAGE, Pa. -- More than $1,500 in cash prizes await the best floats to appear in Saturday's Hermitage Holiday Light Parade kicking off the holiday season.
The parade will begin at 6 p.m., forming on Kerrwood Drive and traveling east on State Street to state Route 18 and then north on Route 18 to the entrance to Hermitage Middle School.
An awards ceremony is set for 8 p.m. in the middle school gymnasium.
Entries in the nonprofit, school and music/entertainment categories can vie for the cash prizes while corporate, municipal, family and community entries will compete for special commemorative plates.
As many as 15,000 people are expected to view the parade, which includes more than 70 entries.
This year's event will feature the first parade grand marshal and also recognize the 30 high school students participating in the Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce Junior Leadership Shenango program.
The Hermitage Business Association is a primary sponsor of the parade.
Daniel Leali Sr. of Longview Road, president of Leali Brothers Excavating Inc. of Hermitage and Tiger Sales Inc. of Sharon, has been named as parade grand marshal.
He is being recognized not only for his business achievements but also for his significant contributions to the athletic programs at Hickory High School as well as the city.
