WASHINGTON -- The American Red Cross is asking groups and individuals to support the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, which provides food, shelter and grief counseling to victims of disasters.
For example, Red Cross officials said 13 shelters were opened in Ohio and Pennsylvania and other states to help people displaced by recent tornadoes.
Gifts to the fund can be made to a local Red Cross chapter or to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37423, Washington, D.C. 20013. Internet users can make secure online credit card donations by visiting www.redcross.org. Donations are also being collected at Coinstar machines at grocery stores. Call (800) 435-7669.
