Book highlights clothes with real character

NEW YORK (AP) -- "Dressing in the Dark" sheds some light on Hollywood's most stylish men.
The book, subtitled "Lessons in Men's Styles From the Movies" and published by Assouline, looks at both actors and characters who know how to dress the part of a chic and charismatic man.
Chapters tackle "the monkey suit," as worn by Sean Connery as 007 and Jack Nicholson as Angelica Huston's date (a beret tops the tux), and "suits of armor," such as Robert Redford's politically correct look in "The Candidate" and Michael Douglas' power outfit in "Wall Street."
John Travolta in his black suit, pink shirt and pink socks certainly was the life of the party in "Grease."
The book was written by Marion Maneker, a former New York Magazine editor, and it includes practical advice about clothes and character.
