Wreck kills man
AUSTINTOWN -- Samuel Charles, 37, of Main Street, Mineral Ridge, died Saturday night of injuries from a two-car crash on state Route 11.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Charles was ejected from his vehicle when it was hit from behind, crashed into guardrail, flipped and struck a tree about 3:10 a.m. Saturday.
Charges are pending against the other driver, a 25-year-old Canfield man, whose blood-alcohol content was above the legal limit, the patrol said.
Home invasion
LIBERTY -- Police are searching for two men who forced their way into a home and demanded money.
A 44-year-old Naylor-Lloyd Avenue woman told police she was in her apartment around 10:30 p.m. Saturday when two men, one armed with a shotgun, forced their way inside.
Reports say one man hit her on the head with a picture frame, causing him to drop the gun. The second man picked up the gun and threatened the woman before the men fled in a dark, four-door vehicle.
Historic-house break-in
WARREN -- Vandals broke into the historic Kinsman House over the weekend.
Police are investigating after being called to the house Sunday morning by an Ohio State University Extension Service employee.
Trumbull County's extension offices are housed in the building.
The city-owned house on Mahoning Avenue was built in 1821 by Gen. Simon Perkins as a wedding gift for his daughter.
The city hopes to restore the historic home as part of the second phase of its Riverwalk project.
Wendell Lauth, a Trumbull County historian, said some items in the house, such as furniture, were owned by the house's original owners.
4-H support
WARREN -- The Trumbull County 4-H Endowment Committee will have its annual Shop at the Book Nook on Dec. 7.
Anyone who shops at the Book Nook in Elm Road Plaza that day can mention they support 4-H and the store will donate a portion of that person's sale to the endowment fund, which is used to pay for educational camps for 4-H youth.
The committee also is collecting Hershey candy wrappers. It asks that you send the wrappers with the UPC symbol from Hershey, Peter Paul, Reese's, KitKat, Rolo, Twizzlers, Caramello, York, Heath and PayDay products to Jim Hill, Ohio State University Extension Office, 303 Mahoning Ave., Warren 44483 before Dec. 1.
The wrappers will be redeemed for Harvick merchandise for the committee's dinner and auction.

BOARDMAN -- The International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and reinforcing Ironworkers Local 207 is challenging building trades unions in Mercer County, Pa., to match its contribution to families who lost their homes in severe storms in Clark, Pa., on Nov. 10.
"We voted to donate $100 per household to families who lost their homes in the tornado," said Ed Goldner, Local 207 business manager.

The police vice squad sent a 19-year-old into the Market Street bar at 11 p.m. Saturday, then entered the business a few minutes later.
Officers said they found the teenager sitting at the bar with a bottle of beer.
Howlett, of Villa Rosa Drive, Canfield was issued a court summons.
