Only man is cruel enough to kill a helpless horse

Only man is cruel enough to kill a helpless horse
EDITOR:
The emotions I feel as I write this letter are anger and sadness. I find myself asking, over and over, what could poor Eddy possibly have done to deserve to die a horrible death at the hands of human beings, as I'm quite positive no four-legged animal murdered this miniature horse. Only man premeditates and carries out such vicious deeds. We are supposed to be the higher form of intelligence -- we have brains! When times are bad, the wolf realizes this, knows he won't be able to feed his young, and doesn't breed. Man does, then collects welfare for his young he knows he can't provide for. Worse, he throws them away.
I've tried to determine the reason why a human being would commit such a fiendish act. I find it difficult to imagine someone driving down the road, saw Eddy in his pasture and just decided to beat and murder him. It appears this deed was committed with premeditation and intent.
I didn't know Eddy, but I mourn for him, the Adams' family, and the scoundrel who killed him. We should all mourn for all animals that are tortured and murdered. Animals don't flush their newborns down toilets, commit unspeakable acts with their children, starve and put them in closets -- only we do -- the superior beings. And, if we are to agree with the Bible, in its interpretation of how the world and all mankind began, remember, God chose to create animals first, with man an afterthought.

Think of the life that lies ahead for unwanted child
EDITOR:
Pro-choice is not equal to pro-abortion. If I say, "I am pro-choice," that gives you no idea where I stand on abortion. Pro-choice means a woman has a right to choose whether to terminate a pregnancy or not, and her decision is between her and her supreme being. The government or anyone else should not be involved.
How many anti-abortionists are thinking ahead to the lives these fetuses will lead? When the baby is born, the chances are the mother's feelings are not going to change and the baby is still unwanted and unloved. Its mother denied an abortion, the baby is sentenced to a miserable life.
In most cases there are four possible paths ahead. 1) The baby will be abandoned and die before it is found or begin what is often the long adoption trail. Hopes rise with every "adoption party" and are dashed when no one shows an interest in the adoptee. 2) The baby will be abused physically and/or mentally and die at a very young age. 3) The child will be put out of the house and expected to fend for itself. 4) The child will run away and in many cases become a thief, the property of a pimp or involved with drug sales to keep itself alive. (If you want proof of the above, read the letters sent out by Covenant House and other places that try to help the many scared, homeless children in our nation.)
I should not want on my conscience the thought that I was in any way responsible for such a sentence being given to even one child, let alone thousands.

U.S. ally ignores murder
EDITOR:
Does anyone in the mainstream media care that Christians are being attacked and murdered by Islamic terrorists in Pakistan at an alarming rate? Yes that Pakistan, our ally in the "war against terrorism."
To ask the question in our politically correct culture is almost to answer it. There have been at least six such attacks in the past year. An attack occurred as recently as Sept. 25. A Christian charity in Karachi was the target. Seven people, all Christians were killed. They were killed precisely because they were Christian. Islamic groups candidly and brazenly state that their goal is to "kill Christians."
The accounts of these and other such incidents that I have seen reported all attribute the killings to some vaguely anti-Western purpose. We need to face the unpleasant reality that we are at war with, as Daniel Pipes says, a "terroristic version of Islam." Not to do so will mean the unnecessary loss of lives.
