A reporter recently asked a Columbiana city patrolman if there was any crime news to report.
"Not if I can help it," the patrolman replied.

Two representatives of an out-of-state bank contacted the East Palestine city manager and finance director recently about refinancing some of the city's loans. The men attended a recent council meeting, prompting Councilwoman Becky Burns to ask how the men knew the city had the loans.
The men said the loans in question are through the United States Department of Agriculture, and the USDA provided a list of its borrowers.
"It wasn't through telemarketing, then," Burns said, relieved. "Everyone is on somebody's telemarketing list. Even my dog gets telemarketing calls."
