Zocolos mark 60th anniversary with dinner, trip



XSALEM -- Mr. and Mrs. William Zocolo of Salem celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary during a family dinner party Oct. 18 at their home.
Hosts for the event were the honorees' children, Bill Zocolo of Bessemer, Pa., Terry Zocolo of East Palestine, Mark Zocolo of Salem and Lori Zocolo of Cleveland Heights.
As part of their anniversary celebration the couple traveled to the Poconos Oct. 20 and visited Andrew Wyeth's Museum at Chadds Ford, Pa., and also visited the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pa.
The former June Corl and Mr. Zocolo were married Oct. 22, 1942, at St. Paul Catholic Church.
Mr. Zocolo, who also is known as "Bud," served as a sergeant during World War II in General George Patton's Third Army, Armored Artillery, and participated in five European campaigns. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Mr. Zocolo retired as director of engineering atGoulds Pumps in Seneca Falls, N.Y.
Mr. and Mrs. Zocolo are coordinators of children's art that includes seven schools at Butler Institute of America Art Salem Branch. They are members of St. Paul Church and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
Mrs. Zocolo is an artist and her husband, a woodcarver.
The family circle includes five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
