Park lodging discount
COLUMBUS -- Ohio State Parks will continue to "Salute the Troops" in 2003 by extending the 10 percent lodging discount program for active military personnel through 2003.
"Salute the Troops" offers military personnel, including the reserves and National Guard, overnight stays in state park resorts, cottages and campgrounds. The discount cannot be used in combination with other lodging discounts or on holidays. He received an award for the highest marksmanship score in his platoon in basic training, and is now at Fort Lee, Va., undergoing advanced training. Also: National Guard Pvt. Michael R. Metal worker course
Marine Lance Cpl. Skyler J. Baum, son of Donna M. Baronzzi of Canfield and John A. Baum of Lisbon, completed the Basic Metal Worker Course at the Marine Corps Engineer School, Camp Lejeune, N.C., and was also promoted to his current rank. He is a 2001 graduate of Leetonia High School.
Naval Flight Officer
Navy Lt. j.g. Michelle J. Collins, daughter of Janet G. Collins of Winchester, Va., and Porter C. Collins of Salem, was recently designated a Naval Flight Officer while serving with Training Squadron 86, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla. Presentation of the "Wings of Gold" marked culmination of 18 months of flight training for Collins. She is a 1994 graduate of James Wood High School, Winchester, Va.
Airborne, cargo loading
Army Pvt. Jason Fabek, a 2001 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and a son of Kenny and Darlene Fabek of Austintown, completed cargo loading school at Fort Eustis, Va., and Airborne school at Fort Benning, Ga. He is now stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C.
HONORS
Audie L. Murphy Club
Army Sgt. 1st Class Herbert D. Tulip was inducted into the Sgt. Audie L. Murphy Club, formed in 1986 in honor of Audie Leon Murphy, the Army's most decorated combat soldier in World War II.
Tulip is a platoon sergeant assigned to the 401st Military Police Company, Fort Hood, Texas. He is the son of Kathryn E. Bailey of Hadley, Pa., and is a 1988 graduate of Reynolds High School, Transfer, Pa.
