BIG EAST Reyes goes over 1,000 yards, but Syracuse falls



BOSTON (AP) -- Derrick Knight ran for 171 yards and two touchdowns to surpass 1,000 yards for the season, and Boston College beat Syracuse 41-20 on Saturday to qualify for a bowl game and snap a five-game Big East losing streak.
Walter Reyes of Struthers had 95 yards on 14 carries for Syracuse to give him 1,025 yards for the season, scoring on an 8-yard run midway through the third quarter to tie the game 20-20. It was his 16th TD of the season, extending his own school record.
Reyes became the seventh player in Syracuse history to surpass 1,000 yards.
Brandon Brokaw had a pair of 1-yard touchdown plunges, the second giving BC a 34-20 lead with 10:02 left in the game. The score was set up by Sean Ryan's 27-yard reception that brought the ball to the inch-line.
Ryan caught six passes for 105 yards and a touchdown, and Brian St. Pierre completed 22-of-34 passes for 284 yards and one TD for BC (6-4, 1-4). Boston College becomes the sixth team this season to amass more than 500 yard in total offense against Syracuse (4-7, 2-4).
After Reyes scored to tie the game, St. Pierre hit Ryan for a 7-yard score to give BC a 27-20 lead with 2:22 remaining in the third. Brokaw followed with his second touchdown, then Knight broke free with a 70-yard run to make it 41-20 with 3:40 remaining.
