XFORTALEZA, Brazil -- Sandra Borges of Fortaleza and Robert DeMart of Alexandria, Va., were married Oct. 12 at Nossa Senhora do Libano Church.
The bride is a daughter of Mariinha and Cassio Borges of Fortaleza. The groom is a son of Marguerite DeMart, 473 Park Drive, Campbell, and the late Rocco DeMart.
The couple were honored at La Maison Dunas then left for a honeymoon in Italy.
They live in Alexandria.
Mrs. DeMart, who wore a Italian silk dress, has a master's degree in engineering from Federal University, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is a public transportation consultant.
The groom holds an engineering degree from Youngstown State University and is a senior manager at Nextell Communications Inc., Reston, Va. He served in U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is in the Army Reserve.
In Brazilian weddings, padrinhos are comparable to attendants. The bride's were Gaston and Karine Viana, Catarina Faria, Eulinho and Leticia Lucena, Ana and Jorge Amorim, Raquel Espindola, Yuri Macedo, Euza and Luiz Henrique Leite, Sanya Teixeira, Joao Alencar, Guillermo Vellarde, Eugenia Lucena and Reginaldo and Rosena Borges.
The groom's were Dean and Katherine Smith, Margaret and Michael Needler, Ann Cassidy, Jill and Jim Russell, Cathy Spence, Bill Sismour, Linda and Madaline Parish, Eliab and Isabel Beserra, Marcos and Cristina Goldenstein and Christiano Machado.
Flower girls were Luiza Machado and Mariana Ciasca and ring bearer, Gustavo Sanford. Jean DeMart Farr also participated.
