Geneva men begin with 83-51 victory



BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- The Geneva men's basketball team opened the season with an 83-51 victory over Practical Bible College on Friday in the first round of the Geneva Tornado Tip-Off Classic.
Geneva had a 41-24 lead at halftime and cruised to its first win. It led by as many as 38 points in the second half when it stretched the lead to 83-48.
Terrance Ward led Geneva with 17 points, including 7 of 10 shooting from the field. Tony Gerello chipped in with 14 points, six rebounds and seven blocks. Stefan Grundberg, who scored Geneva's first eight points, finished the game with 12 points on 5 of 8 shooting.
Malone 84, Notre Dame 76
In the first game of the tournament, Malone College outlasted Notre Dame College.
Geneva will meet Malone in today's championship game, with Notre Dame to face Practical Bible in the consolation round.
