XGROVE CITY -- Amy Kathleen Kottar, 6335 Riverview Loop, and Michael Douglas Akers, 200 Borders Road, Lucasville, were united in marriage Oct. 5 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
The bride's brother, the Rev. Michael Kottar, presided at the 12:30 p.m. ceremony, and a reception was held at Oakhurst Country Club.
The bride is a daughter of Michael and Kathleen Kottar, 5340 Oakcrest Drive, Youngstown, and the groom is a son of Ms. Pamela Akers, 1103 Kittle Road, Wheelersburg.
Alencon lace, pearls and sequins enhanced the bodice and straps of the bride's sleeveless white satin gown, and the skirt flowed into a cathedral train.
Hunter-green gowns were worn by the bride's twin sister and honor attendant, Renee Kottar of Nazareth, Pa., and the bridesmaid, Heather Davey of Strongsville.
Danny Hamilton of Portsmouth performed the duties of best man, and groomsman was Seth Douthitt of Piketon. Ring bearer was Austin Akers of Wheelersburg, a nephew of the groom.
The bride graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in nursing and is an intensive care-trauma registered nurse at Grant Medical Center, Columbus.
The groom, a state trooper with Ohio State Highway Patrol in Jackson, attended the University of Cincinnati.
The couple have returned from a honeymoon cruise to the Caribbean and live in Grove City.
