Sharon mayor opens truck access route

SHARON, Pa. -- The city's new truck access route from State Street to Winner Steel Services Inc. is ready.
Mayor David O. Ryan opened the 1,100-foot route Thursday. It runs north from State Street, following along Dock Street, which has been extended one block to hook up with Dayton Way, which runs to American Way. The road will allow trucks to get to Winner Steel without having to go onto busy Sharpsville Avenue.
The road is wide enough for steel trucks to pass in opposite directions.
The city secured a $450,000 state grant for the work and has about $30,000 left. Sharon will ask the state for permission to divert that to another downtown improvement project.
