Weathersfield OKs commercial zone change
MINERAL RIDGE -- The Weathersfield Township Zoning Commission approved a zone change on three lots on the west side of North Bellwood Avenue to allow a business owner to expand.
No residents attended the public hearing Wednesday except for the petitioner, Carl Leveto.
The commission approved a zone change that permits offices, banks, funeral homes, small retail stores, barbershops or similar service-oriented businesses, said Sherry Craver, zoning inspector. The lots had been zoned residential.
Store owner
Leveto, the owner of Handyman Hardware, on U.S. Route 422, had wanted the property zoned commercial-B, which allows businesses such as gas stations, car washes, larger retail stores, restaurants, motels, hotels and shopping centers. However, the commission decided that designation was unnecessary, so it approved the commercial-A zoning.
Leveto sought the zone change for the vacant lots so he could construct a pole building to store overflow of his business inventory as well as other seasonal items, the commission said.
