FUNDING Regents proposal
Some schools would get more money than last year and others would get less under a Ohio Board of Regents proposal that would redistribute state subsidies among the state's 13 four-year universities. The breakdown for some of those for the 2002-2003 school year, compared to 2001-2002, and the difference between the original proposal and the compromise the regents expect to approve today:
PROPOSED DECREASES
Youngstown State -- Compromise proposal: $1.4 million or 3.4 percent; original proposal: $2.7 million or 6.2 percent.
University of Akron -- Compromise proposal: $654,184, or 0.74 percent; original proposal: $1.1 million, or 1.2 percent.
Miami -- Compromise proposal: $338,144, or 0.55 percent; original proposal: $589,958, or 1 percent.
Cleveland State University -- Compromise proposal: $61,330, or 0.09 percent; original proposal: $191,179, or 0.3 percent.
PROPOSED INCREASES
Ohio State University -- Compromise proposal: $2.5 million, or 0.8 percent; original proposal: $2.7 million, or 0.9 percent.
Kent State University -- Compromise proposal: $1.7 million, or 2 percent; original proposal: $2.7 million, or 3.1 percent.
Bowling Green State University -- Compromise proposal: $1.3 million or 1.8 percent; original proposal: $2.2 million or 2.9 percent.
Ohio University -- Compromise proposal: $1.1 million, or 1 percent; original proposal: $1.3 million, or 1.2 percent.
