Cars from three police departments converged on a Lake Glacier parking lot.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Austintown police apprehended a robbery suspect Monday at Mill Creek Park's Lake Glacier, while Youngstown police arrested a drug suspect wanted on two bench warrants.
Rocky Nicoloff, 24, of Youngstown was charged with aggravated robbery and driven from the scene by Austintown police. A tenant at Four Seasons Apartments, formerly known as Fountain Square, on New Road was robbed at 1:45 p.m. Monday, police said.
Nicoloff was to appear Thursday morning in Mahoning County Court, Austintown.
Youngstown police arrested Terence M. Rager, 23, of Volney Road, on a charge of marijuana abuse and on bench warrants for failure to appear in Youngstown Municipal Court on charges of driving without a license and under license suspension.
When Mill Creek MetroParks police stopped the burgundy four-door 1990 Pontiac Grand Am, Nicoloff was driving in the southernmost parking lot on the west side of Lake Glacier just before 4:30 p.m. Rager, who was a front-seat passenger, ran from the car and was arrested as he hid behind Slippery Rock Pavilion, police said.
Drugs found
Police said they found and confiscated a plastic zipper bag of suspected marijuana that had been dropped under the Slippery Rock Bridge. Nicoloff and Rager were taken to Mahoning County Jail. A woman who was a rear-seat passenger was released without charge.
At least a half-dozen police cars from Youngstown, Austintown and Mill Creek MetroParks converged on the arrest scene.
Those responding included canine units from Youngstown and Austintown.
