XOCEANSIDE, Calif. -- Shawna Clarquist and Wayne Wilt, both of 319 Foussat Road, exchanged marriage vows during a ceremony at 4 p.m. Sept. 28 in the garden at the home of the Mertes family, cousins of the bride.
The Rev. Thom Fleming, the bride's uncle, officiated, and a reception also took place at the Mertes home.
The bride is a daughter of Judy Clarquist of the Foussat Road address. Parents of the groom are Duane and Retta Wilt, 10249 Washingtonville Road, Greenford.
Wearing a candlelight silk gown fashioned with a scoop neckline and ballroom skirt, the bride was escorted by her cousin, Patrick Navarro, Santa Paula, Calif.
Lt. j.g. Polly Downey of Misawa, Japan, was honor attendant. She wore a black dress, as did the bridesmaids, Dawnyel Monroe of Greenford, Angie Dailey of Oceanside and Rosalynn Lopez of Chicago. The bride's cousin, Teghan Shore of Escondido, Calif., was bell ringer.
Serving as best man for his brother was Rob Wilt of Greenford. Groomsmen were Jason Wilt of Greenford, the groom's brother; Paul Freedy of Canfield; and the groom's father.
The newlyweds honeymooned on a cruise to Mexico and live in southern California.
Mrs. Wilt studied anthropology at Youngstown State University and is attending nursing school.
The groom served in the U.S. Marine Corps and graduated from Kent State University with a degree in occupational therapy.
