HELOISE Reminder counts when drying clothes
Dear Heloise: I always had pieces of clothing that could be washed with the everyday laundry, but certain pieces that I did not want to go into the dryer.
To make sure I don't miss any, as I load the washer I count the pieces of clothing that I know I want to hang to dry, and then I go get the same number of clothes hangers and place them on top of the washing machine.
Then, when I take the wash out, I have the hangers there, reminding me how many pieces not to put in the dryer, and I promptly hang them on the hangers. Shirley Bergeron, Metairie, La.
I love this! No mistakes this way, and nothing goes into the dryer that shouldn't. This would be a good reminder for children or anyone learning to do laundry, too. Thanks for sharing. Heloise

Dear Heloise: Use a pastry blender to cut ground beef into small pieces after browning. M. Terry, Ellicott City, Md.
Dear Heloise: When I can, I try to print on both sides of my printer paper to save paper, but it can be frustrating when you put the paper in the wrong way and end up with two pages printed on the same side of the sheet.
We have three computer printers in our home, and I never could remember which side of the paper the printer would print on. To solve the problem, I wrote on a small adhesive label which side of the paper the printer would print on and stuck it on the printer paper tray. This has saved me time and frustration. S. Sound off: Our population is growing older. However, manufacturers seem not to notice.
Cans of vegetables and fruits and many other products now come in a new "flip-top" can. As seniors, we were able to use an electric can opener on regular cans, but using pliers and trying not to get cut on the razor-sharp edge of flip-top can lid is another story.
Also, toothpaste and many other "tube" products are in hard plastic tubes that won't roll up. It takes a good deal of pressure to squeeze the product out of the tube.
There are probably many more items being manufactured without a thought for seniors, but these were items I have personal knowledge of. Gay Croft, Kernville, Calif.
I agree with you, Gay. Hope the manufacturers are listening -- there is a large seniors market out there, and they will pay for good products! Heloise
